Areas We Cover Around Portsmouth

We install driveways, paving and patios across Portsmouth, Portsea Island and the surrounding parts of south-east Hampshire — close enough to visit quickly and come back if anything needs attention.

Local knowledge that changes the build

Portsmouth is not one uniform place to build a driveway. Ground conditions, access and house type vary sharply between a terrace off Albert Road and a 1930s semi in Farlington, and both the price and the specification change with them. Here is what we typically find in each part of the city.

  • Southsea

Victorian and Edwardian terraces with small front gardens, tight on-street parking and no machine access on many roads. Most work here is hand dug and barrowed out, with careful attention to the level at the front door and where run-off can go without crossing the footway.

  • Old Portsmouth & Portsea

Older properties, narrow lanes and conservation-area sensitivities. Tumbled blocks, clay pavers, granite setts and natural stone usually sit far better here than a bright modern block. Access and material storage need planning before the job starts.

  • Fratton & Copnor

Dense terraced streets where converting a front garden into off-street parking makes a genuine difference. Dropped kerb consent and permeable construction are the two things we look at first on almost every enquiry from these roads.

  • Cosham, Drayton & Farlington

Larger post-war and inter-war houses with wider frontages and driveable access, so machinery and grab lorries can usually get close. That keeps excavation and muck-away costs down and suits full block paving or resin installations.

  • Milton, Eastney & Baffins

Low-lying, flat ground close to the water where surface water drainage needs proper thought. Permeable build-ups and attenuation often make more sense here than relying on a traditional soakaway.

  • North End, Hilsea & Paulsgrove

A mix of terraces, semis and small estates. Plenty of driveway widening and full replacement work where original 1960s concrete strips or thin tarmac have broken up.

  • Port Solent & Portchester

Waterside and modern estate properties where appearance and low maintenance matter. Resin bound surfaces and porcelain terraces are popular, with careful specification for the salt-laden coastal air.

Not listed? We also cover Hilsea, Anchorage Park, Stamshaw, Tipner, Buckland, Landport, Somers Town, Craneswater and Great Salterns. Send us your postcode and we will confirm.

FAQs

Questions about our service area

Still unsure about something? Call us and ask — we would rather answer questions before a quote than after.

Do you charge for a site visit?

No. Site visits and written quotations within our normal working area are free and there is no obligation. We would rather spend an hour measuring up properly than send a guess by email.

Will you travel outside Portsmouth?

We regularly work in the surrounding areas including Portchester, Havant, Waterlooville and Fareham. Further afield depends on the size of the job — call and ask, and we will give you a straight answer rather than driving out and inflating the price to cover travel.

How soon can you start?

Lead times vary with the season; spring and early summer are busiest. We give you a realistic start window when we quote and keep you updated if weather on a preceding job moves things.
